My Pack

Home pix of my three dogs. The oldest & biggest is “Rusty” who is a Dachshund/Pomeranian Hybrid (designer dog) aka a Dameranian. I’m serious, that’s what they call them. Google Dachshund/Pomeranian for proof. Of course if you are a US Veteran & spent time in the Middle East, it’s Okay to pronounce it “Damn’Iranian.”

The white & brown pup is Prim. She is a “Piebald, long hair Miniature Dachshund” who just turned 1 at Christmas 2022. She has a funny looking left eye because she was born blind in that eye. The Merle Gene causes blindness & sometimes deafness as a congenital birth defect. It’s never slowed her down a bit & She was a joy to raise.

The tiny puppy is 7 week old Extreme Piebald Longhair Miniature Dachshund I named “Dumplin.” He too is afflicted with congenital blindness with about 90% of his vision effected. In dim light he can see a few shapes & shadows but I’ve noticed that most of the time he just keeps his eyes closed. Raising him has been a challenge for us, but no problem for him. He’s “the baby” but has been adopted by the other two dogs. Like Prim, he is a sweet & gentle soul who doesn’t know what a handicap or stigma is. Seems normal to Him & He already acts as Prim’s “wingman.” I suspect he is going to be an almost white dachshund.

Top pic should be titled “HEY! Who drank up all the damn beer?” Having 2 purebred miniature dachshunds is a real pairadox.

What can I say? Get a long-little-doggie y’all!
